Amazing Grace · first line4 voices · 0:00 / 0:18

Synthesized guide voices, singing on "oo". In the app, real singers sing some of the parts.

Amazing Grace's first line, "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.", in four parts: the soprano sings the tune, with the alto, tenor and bass under it. Your part is the Soprano. Press a voice to take it out of the harmony or bring it back.

Part by part, or the whole song

Part by part takes you through the song in steps, phrase by phrase. The whole song lets you sing straight through, with the words big on a stage or the notes moving toward you on a lane.

  • Listen, sing along, on your own, then record
  • The words on a stage, or the notes on a lane
  • A staff for anyone who reads music

See how you're doing as you sing

On the lane, your voice is a glowing dot in your part's colour with a trail behind it, and each note lights up when you hit it. A missed note simply stays unlit; it never turns red. After a take you see how it went, what went well, and something to try.

Help when a part is hard

Loop a tricky phrase, slow the song down, or put soft chords underneath so you have something to tune to. If one phrase of a take didn't sit right, sing just that phrase again.

  • Chords underneath, as a pad or a piano
  • Slow practice at 85% or 70%, at the same pitch
  • Note names as letters, do re mi, or numbers
  • A range check that suggests your part and key

No music reading needed

You learn each part by ear, with the notes drawn as shapes you can follow. Real singers sing a growing number of the parts, and a practice voice follows any key and speed.
