What a group is

  • A choir director with Plus starts a group, sends the singers its link, shares songs, and says who sings which part.
  • Singers join free. While they're in the group, they can learn every song shared with it, Plus songs included.
  • Choir groups are for people 18 and over for now. We ask once.
  • A group holds up to 60 singers, and one director can run up to 5 groups.

Start a group

  • Sign in, open Settings, then tap "Choir groups". Tap "Start a group".
  • Give it a name, tick "I'm 18 or over", then tap "Start the group".

Invite your singers

  • In the group, tap Invite singers: the group's link shows, with Copy link. Send it to your singers yourself: we don't send it for you.
  • Anyone with the link can join until you reset it. Reset link makes a new one and the old one stops working; singers already in the group stay.

Share songs and give out parts

  • Tap "Share a song", choose one from the library or from your own templates, then "Share it".
  • Beside the song, tap "Assign parts" and pick a part for each singer. Tap "Done" when you're finished.

What the director sees

  • For each singer and song: their part, and whether it's "Not started", "Learning" or "Recorded".
  • "Learning" means they've started the song. "Recorded" means they've recorded their part and it's saved to their account.
  • Never their recordings, and never their contact details.
  • The director can also rename the group, remove a singer, or end the group. What singers record always stays theirs.

For singers

  • Open the link your director sent. It says who invited you and shows the parts. Signed in, tap Join the group; new to Stackapella, type your email and tap Accept invite, or use Apple or Google. You'll learn the songs your director shares, with your part picked for you.
  • Tap "Open" on a song to start it. It joins your songs, and counts toward the free plan's 3.
  • Your groups show on the home page too, under "Your choir".
  • To leave, tap "Leave the group". Your songs stay yours, but one made from a Plus song goes read only again unless you have Plus.

If the director's Plus ends

  • The group stays, read only: no new songs, singers or parts. Singers can keep learning what's already shared.
