Your voice as a guide

How a song you make public can help others learn, and how to stop it.

What it means

  • Most songs start with a practice voice, and real voices join them part by part. When you share a harmony and tick "Stackapella may feature it on our X and Bluesky", it becomes public, and we may choose your part as the voice everyone learns from: other singers learning the same song can sing along with you.
  • It's always credited to you, by your profile's name. We choose which voices are used. Public harmonies are for singers 18 and over.
  • A harmony you only share by link, without that tick, is never used: only the people you send it to can find it.

Friends who sang on it

  • Everyone who sang on a song agrees before it's public. If a friend takes their yes back, the song stops being public and its parts stop being guides. Its share link still works for anyone who has it, and you can ask again.

How to stop it

  • Open Share on the song, tap "Use that link", and untick featuring. Its parts stop being used as guide voices.
  • Or stop sharing it: open Share, tap "Use that link", then "Stop sharing". Its parts stop being used as guide voices straight away.
  • Deleting your account does the same for all your songs.
