Headphones
Why to wear them, and which kind keeps the timing tightest.

Why headphones
- While you record, the other parts play so you can sing along. With headphones on, they stay out of your new recording.
- Without headphones, the mic hears the other parts too, and the report on your take can't be as fair.
Wired or Bluetooth
- Wired headphones keep the timing tightest.
- Bluetooth works, but adds a delay that can change while you sing, so run a timing check first and check it often.
- Wireless mics, like AirPods used as a mic, change their delay too. Wired headphones with a built-in mic are the best of both.
Before you record
- Before the first take of a session, we ask you to Put your headphones on. Choose Wired or Bluetooth.
- Bluetooth says Needs timing check until you've measured it with this mic, and we run the check before your take. Then it's Ready.
- Tap Start recording. Don't ask again stops the question on this device, and Not now goes back without recording. In Sing and the course, No headphones takes the place of Not now: you record anyway, with the other parts softer or resting.
New headphones?
- When you switch headphones or mics, the app offers a timing check again. Take it: each pair has its own delay.
